Summer Drinking Tour 8-25-06 - Zac Brown Band, UFC 62, Joe Firstman and Beerfest

The WWJ Summer Drinking Tour is gearing up for a big weekend. The festivities start Friday night, when the WWJ staff and I head out to see the local boys, The Zac Brown Band play to a SOLD OUT Variety Playhouse. This will be their Welcome Home show and they will be filming the concert for their first live DVD. The show is sold out, but earlier today they released a couple more tickets, so you can head over to the Variety Playhouse’s web site and try your luck. If you don’t make it out to this show, you definitely need to make an effort to catch their great live show.




Saturday night, it’s guy’s night out as we invaded American Pie to watch UFC 62 : Liddell vs. Sobral. Even though the main event is going to be a great match up, I am looking forward to seeing my boy, Forrest Griffin take on Stephan Bonner, in a rematch of one of the best fights in UFC history. As of now we are supposed to go to American Pie, but we may wind up back at the Hooter’s of Gwinnett.



One of my all time favorite CD’s is Joe Firstman’s The War of Women, so I am very excited that I finally get to see him perform live this Sunday at Smiths Olde Bar. If you’re a night owl you may recognize Joe from his stint as the house band on Last Call with Carson Daly.



Also on tap this weekend, The Broken Lizard’s return to the big screen with Beerfest. In case you’re a shut in or a retard, Broken Lizard are the guys responsible for the classic Super Troopers. Since this movie is about a secret beer drinking competition, I think it would be sacrilegious to watch this movie without drinking some cold beer. If anybody knows a good way to sneak a 12 pack into a movie theater let me know. I guess I could pay more and go see it at one of the theaters that serve alcohol, but that just doesn’t seem right either.



On Monday I am taking the day off to recover, so I will attempt to do a recap of the weekend’s festivities. Hopefully someone will be sober and I will have some good pictures and videos to post, but most likely I will end up with a ton of blurry pictures and a video of some girl’s ass.
