Video of the Day - Volkswagen Car Crash Ads

Time for another WWJ approved Video of the Day. I still haven’t recovered from the long Thanksgiving weekend, but I figured I would do a quick post. I absolutely fucking hate the Volkswagen commercials that have been running nonstop for the past couple months. You know the ones that have some people in the car talking about some random shit and not paying attention, when all of a sudden, BOOM the car gets the shit smashed out of it. I think there are like 7 different ones; hell there is even one where the bitches in the car are talking about the other 6 Volkswagen commercials. All the commercials end with the driver about to curse, before it’s cut off with the Volkswagen logo and the oh so edgy tag line of Safe Happens. I guess this is their way to seem “cool” and “hip” to younger drivers with their loud music, an their Dan Fogelberg, their Zima, Hula Hoops and Pac Man video games. Now granted I wasn’t an advertising major in college, but I did take Intro to Advertising, so I think that qualifies me as an expert. My expert opinion is that VW dropped the ball and didn’t come off edgy enough. Since I could use a new car and I am dead broke, I figured I would help VW get that edge they so need to appeal to younger drivers. I submit this video to help salvage the current Safe Happens campaign. Your welcome VW and I will expect my coupon for a free Jetta by the end of the week.
